BrightCloud Web Services (BCWS) makes the world's best web filtering database available to developers. Using BCWS, developers can understand websites in unique and interesting ways without having to develop the large, scalable, and expensive databases or processes required to accurately classify millions of websites.

Developers make simple calls to our web service API and determine which of the almost 100 categories to which a URL belongs as well as its reputation index. The BrightCloud Database is the most comprehensive and accurate in the industry, and is now accessible and downloadable in a way that's cheaper and easier than ever before.

Pricing

Pay for what you use. To offset credit card fees, we require minimum charges of $99.95 and we give you an immediate 50,000 calls just for signing up. You may need more than that later. When you do, you can purchase more API calls according to the rates below. We maintain an account balance for you so you know how many requests you have left.

You can set your account to automatically refill your account balance when it gets low, or else we'll just send you an email so you can maintain full control of it yourself.

  • $374.95 $299.95 per 1,000,000 API requests (that's less than $0.03 per 100 calls!)

Intended Usage and Restrictions

Our intentions are simple, we want to help developers create new uses for our data, not allow competitors to steal our hard work and use it against us. We're also trying to run a business. This is what we do for a living, so please don't try to undermine our efforts to make this available to others. Therefore, most of you can take full advantage of BCWS without any worry, but here is a short list of things you can't do with it - the complete agreement with all its fine print glory is available here as well.

  • Caching is necessary in high volume situations, but you cannot retain a copy of our data for longer than 1 hour. You have to make another call to the service to start the clock over again.
  • You cannot make the data available in its raw form, for free or for fee.
  • You cannot access our data if you are a competitor, or work with a competitor.
  • You cannot try to reverse engineer our classification or scoring methods.
